Plastbau Technology
Plastbau technology is the name of the process / machinery which manufactures the ICF System. Plastbau is owned by Plastedil S.A. Eurozone Building Solutions has partnered with Plastedil and have the exclusive manufacturing rights for Ireland and the United Kingdom for Plastbau technology. Plastedil S.A. is a Swiss engineering and service company. Its experience dates back to 1960. Plastedil, sole owner of patented Plastbau technology and brand, specialises in the design, construction and sale of machinery and complete turnkey production plants for the manufacturing of Plastbau building system made of EPS (expanded polystyrene).

History
Mr. Piero Cretti, Plastedil’s technical director, is a pioneer of the EPS (expanded polystyrene) technology. He created the first block moulding machine in 1960. He then developed different kinds of expanders, block moulding and forming machines. Plastedil was established in 1978 in order to promote the technology invented by Mr. Cretti, whose unique capacity and experience are the basis of the company’s activity. In 1979 Plastedil invented the Plastbau® system and built the machine for the moulding of continuous EPS blocks, further development of this allowed the ability to cold roll steel into the polystyrene moulding machinery creating an embedded stud. Between 1981 and 1995 several innovative machines were constructed: welding and wrapping machines, shape cutters and machines for the moulding of rolling shutters boxes. In 1981 Plastedil created the first complete plant for the manufacture of Plastbau panels. In 1985 the company built complete plants for the moulding of polystyrene cores for to the “lost foam casting” system. Thanks to close cooperation with the Italian Machine Constructor MAE srl, whose activity dates back to 1980, new, high-performance machines and plants have been created and marketed by Plastedil.

The Technology
Plastedil’s technology is based on the continuous moulding of EPS (expanded polystyrene) shapes which creates a wide range of innovative, top-quality products. These may be solid or hollow-cored, may have longitudinal cavities and variability of the section height. Cold rolled metallic reinforcements can be moulded into the EPS during the moulding cycle, thus reaching formerly unachieved performances for the products. In order to meet the market demand, Plastedil has developed, a series of forms for the casting of concrete (insulated concrete forms – ICF’s). These forms are pre-reinforced and heat-insulated. Plastbau technology and products are revolutionary in the production and construction of Insulated Concrete Formwork.
